K'takagovt developing 6 housing projects

As many as six group housing projects for constructing 100 houses each at a total cost of Rs 157 crore are being constructed by the State Government.

The four cities which will get the group housing projects are Bangalore, Mangalore, Hubli and Mysore.

The houses being constructed under the group housing scheme will be given to workers of various industries in both the formal and non-formal sector on rental basis.

Announcing the details of the project, Labour Minister B N Bache Gowda said the group housing projects will be executed by private developers, who will also take up the responsibility of their regular maintenance.

The total cost of the three housing projects in Bangalore will be Rs 90 crore, while the project in Mangalore will cost Rs 24 crore. The two other projects in Hubli and Mysore will cost Rs 21 crore each.

Each flat in the group housing project will be of 600 sq.ft. in area and would be given to workers of various industries, both formal and informal, on rental basis, the minister said.

The land and the building would be owned by the State Government and the developer would construct complexes and maintain them, he added.
